When we purchased our home, it was in serious need of maintenance and repair!

It was work, scraping off the layers and layers of paint, but purchasing a new door was totally out of the picture. Often, we don’t need to buy something new. With a little work and/or maintenance an item can be used for a long time.
After this door was striped and stained, we did some regular maintenance to ensure it was in good working order for many years to come.
GARAGE DOOR MAINTENANCE TIPS
- EVALUTE – Visually inspect all hinges (for cracks), rollers, track and cables on a regular basis.
- HARDWARE/PARTS – Replace or tighten any hardware and/or parts. I.e. Roller brackets, bolts, rollers, weather-stripping, etc. *We do not recommend you do this if you are unfamiliar with these repairs. When in doubt, leave it to a professional.
- CLEAN – You can easily clean the garage door tracks with an old toothbrush.
- LUBRICATE – This is the biggest help to keep your door running smoothly for many years to come. When parts are properly lubricated, they won’t have as much wear and tear or grinding on the track which will make it last longer and run smoothly.
